Sidewalk Talk

Mediation Guelph-Wellington is a program of Community Justice Initiatives of Waterloo Region.

Sidewalk Talk is an initiative that fits really well in the core vision and mission of CJI. Supporting people through conflict and lead more peaceful lives. Listening to someone is one way this can be accomplished.

There will be two or three listening stations at Take Back the Night in hopes to give people a place to share their views, emotions or just an outlet for their frustrations.

We would like to take this opportunity to invite you, your friends, and family to join us at the annual Take Back the Night (TBTN) event on Thursday September 28th. The event will be held at Marianne’s Park, Gordon Street, Guelph. Take Back the Night will start at 6:00PM.

The University of Guelph campus community will have a meet up at 5:15PM on Johnston Green to march together to Marianne's Park for TBTN.

TBTN provides a safer place for survivors to speak-out, share their story and continue their healing journey by participating in a violence prevention event. All are welcomed to stand in solidarity and seek an end to sexual violence.

In order to create a safer community it will take united active steps towards the elimination of gender based violence.

In celebration of G-W Women in Crisis' 40th Anniversary, we wanted to highlight the continual impact of sexual violence in the past, present and future. This recognition is important in the work we do within our agency and community collaborations. At the forefront of community and national legislative progress has been the voice of survivors, to honor their strength we want to commit to the movement, #WE BELIEVE SURVIVORS.

Our theme for this year’s Take Back the Night is “Past, Present, Future: We believe survivors”.
